NLP can be described as the universal language of the mind, body and spirit. Many enthusiasts talk of NLP as being the "Owner's Manual for the Brain". Within the context of coaching & therapy, NLP provides an elegant set of tools to examine and change the basic structure of how our emotions and thoughts affect the choices we make.

Doing NLP

NLP is a living, growing model. It's not a theory and you won't benefit from simply learning and reciting the principles. NLP has impact through doing because it is through applying it that new thoughts and behaviours come to life. With NLP you learn to embrace ownership of your life. You improve:

  • Your language patterns (verbal, body, behavioural) both with yourself and others
  • Communication and persuasion skills
  • The associations your mind makes, moving from negative vicious cycles to the freedom of choice
  • The things of value - throwing away fears and limitations other people have imposed and establishing your own identity
  • Your thought patterns, developing better relationships, achieving successes, becoming confident and at peace with yourself

  • Problem automatic reactions are controlled at a subconscious level preventing them from being triggered

NLP is not simply a technique. NLP is a way of life. There are elements of it that you are most certainly using in your life at the moment without knowing that you are. You definitely used it when you were a baby learning to walk. That's how natural NLP is and once you harness it, events, circumstances and emotions become much easier to control and shape.
