Happy New Year – Enjoy Your Magic!

Happy New Year - Enjoy Your Magic!Do you find that a New Year makes you feel more philosophical than your own birthday?

Strange considering that the calendar is a man made invention and that the actual date of a new year is different in certain cultures.

Despite this, there is something magical about 1st January and many of us reflect on the year gone by and feel a lightness in our spirit as we look forward to a new beginning.

And this is the true magic of 1st January.

It lets us feel like we hold our destiny in our hands. We believe we can make things happen! And it’s a beautiful, liberating feeling because no-one’s had to tell you, you just automatically feel it.

We make resolutions, resolve to be kinder, more loving, thinner, wealthier, happier. Our desire to be happy underlies all our resolutions.

We actually feel happy – right here, right now – as we bask in the magic of our own powerful selves.

What if we could wake up with this feeling every single day?

What one thing would you change in your life today that would enable this to happen?

Here’s wishing you a 2010 that’s full of the power of your own magic.

  2. Great perspective Reeta. I’ve felt the magic of a new year many times but haven’t stopped to consider why. Thanks for making me pause to think about it.

I do find that a new year makes me feel more philosophical than my birthday. This is my own fault because I always stop and reflect at a new year whilst I tend to let my birthday just fly by. 2010 is a perfect year to change this, so going forward, I will stop and more properly honor the anniversary of my birth. After all, one’s birthday really is the ultimate new year.

I think your comment, “It lets us feel like we hold our destiny in our hands. We believe we can make things happen!” is right on. I think the coolest part of a new year is that people stop and remember that they can change things. Sadly, most people wait for the new year to do this instead of taking advantage of one of life’s most awesome realities … that no matter what happened before now, you can do change everything going forward.

    Have a great 2010!

  3. Hi Mike – perhaps the “communal” aspect of everyone celebrating a new beginning together contributes to this magic in some way.

I agree that it’s unfortunate people wait a year for change but what I love about the Internet Age (esp twitter) is that you meet so many positive role models that the drip drip drip effect of their inspiration seeps into our consciousness at some level.

Thanks for your comment and Happy New Year :-)
